ಆಶಾ ರಘು ಅವರು ಕನ್ನಡದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಾರ್ತಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರು. ಇವರು ಕೇಶವ ಅಯ್ಯಂಗಾರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಲೋಚನ ದಂಪತಿಗಳ ಹಿರಿಯ ಮಗಳಾಗಿ 1979ರ ಜೂನ್ 18 ನೇ ತಾರೀಖಿನಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಇವರು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಿಂದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಕಾಲ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿರುವ ಇವರು, ರಂಗಭೂಮಿ, ಕಿರುತೆರೆ, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿತೆರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಲಾವಿದೆಯಾಗಿ, ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆಕಾರರಾಗಿ, ಸಹಾಯಕ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕರಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ‘ಉಪಾಸನ ಬುಕ್ಸ್’ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಕಾಶನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನೂ, ‘ಅರು ಕ್ರಿಯೇಶನ್ಸ್ ಎಂಬ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
‘ಆವರ್ತ’, ‘ಗತ’, ‘ಮಾಯೆ’, ‘ಚಿತ್ತರಂಗ’, ‘ವಕ್ಷಸ್ಥಲ’, ‘ಮಾರ್ಕೋಲು’ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ‘ಆರನೇ ಬೆರಳು’, ‘ಕೆಂಪು ದಾಸವಾಳ’, ‘ಬೊಗಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಥೆಗಳು’, ‘ಅಪರೂಪದ ಪುರಾಣ ಕಥೆಗಳು’ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಕಥಾಸಂಕಲನಗಳನ್ನೂ ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ‘ನೂತನ ಜಗದಾ ಬಾಗಿಲು’ ಎಂಬ ಕಥಾ ಸಂಕಲನವನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ‘ಚೂಡಾಮಣಿ’, ‘ಕ್ಷಮಾದಾನ’, ‘ಬಂಗಾರದ ಪಂಜರ ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನಾಟಕಗಳು’ ‘ಪೂತನಿ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ನಾಟಕಗಳು’ ಮೊದಲಾದ ನಾಟಕ ಕೃತಿಗಳನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರ ‘ಆವರ್ತ’ ಕಾದಂಬರಿಯ ಕುರಿತ ಕೃತಿ ‘ಆವರ್ತ-ಮಂಥನ’ ಕೂಡಾ ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
Asha Raghu is one of the most prominent Kannada Novelists. She was born to Keshava Iyengar and Sulochana as the eldest daughter on June 18, 1979 in Bengaluru. She is a post graduate in Kannada from Bangalore University. With some teaching experience, she has worked as an artist, a script writer in theater, direction for both the small screen and cinema. She currently runs a publishing house called ‘Upasana Books’ and a production house called ‘Aru Creations.’
‘Avartha’, ‘Gatha’, ‘Maye’, ‘Chittharanga’, ‘Vakshasthala’, ‘Markolu’ are her novels. ‘Arane Beralu’, ‘Kempu Dasavala’, ‘Bogaseyalli Kathegalu’, ‘Aparupada Purana Kathegalu’ are her collection of stories. ‘Noothana jagada bagilu’ is a collection of stories edited by her. ‘Choodamani’, ‘Kshamadana’, ‘Bangarada Panjara matthu itara makkala natakagalu’ and ‘Poothani matthithara natakagalu’ are her collection of plays. ‘Avartha-Manthana’ is a work on ‘Avartha’ Novel containing literary scrutiny and opinion by renowned people in Kannada literature. It is edited and brought by another writer.
Awards conferred so far are Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award (2014), Suryanarayana Chadaga Award (2014), Palakala Seetharama bhatta Award of Kannada Sahitya Parishath (2019), Rajalakshmi Baraguru Ramachandrappa Award of Raichur Kannada Sahitya Parishath (2020), Amma Award of Sedam (2021), Thriveni Datthinidhi Award of Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sanga (2023). ‘Sahithyamritha Saraswati’ is a title conferred on her by Kannada Sahitya Parishath of Madya District in the year 2023.
